Why VW Is Different
Post EA189, Volkswagen Watches Its SCR System Like a Hawk
After the EA189 affair, Volkswagen tightened the monitoring on its diesel emissions hardware, and the SCR system took the brunt of it. On the current TDI range the ECU checks NOx sensor readings, dosing quantity, tank level and heater operation constantly, and it reacts to the smallest disagreement between them. The consequence for owners is a volkswagen adblue fault that latches on hard: a persistent dash warning, then a mileage countdown, then a vehicle that refuses to restart once the counter reaches zero.
Because the strategy is so strict, the usual repair merry go round works badly on these vehicles. Fit a new NOx sensor and the dosing valve fails a plausibility check three weeks later. Sort the dosing side and the second sensor drifts out of tolerance, because the countdown only resets when every parameter satisfies the ECU at once.
Transporter drivers should start with the dedicated Transporter AdBlue delete page; for the wider picture, our VW AdBlue problems guide walks through the usual suspects.
Our answer is a vw adblue delete written directly to the engine ECU. The monitoring that keeps tripping is retired in software, the countdown is cancelled and the engine carries on exactly as Volkswagen mapped it to drive. Compare the approach with a component level AdBlue repair or read the full AdBlue delete service page to see which suits your situation.
What VW owners describe when they call
- An AdBlue lamp on a Transporter T6.1 that shrugs off fresh fluid
- Crafter adblue problems with a no restart countdown already running
- A Tiguan or Passat that failed a NOx plausibility check on the school run
- A second sensor bill quoted weeks after the first one was paid, our NOx sensor delete ends that cycle
- A Touareg dosing fault the local garage could only clear temporarily
Popular Models We Cover
The Volkswagens On Our Job Sheet Every Week
Vans that earn a living and cars that do the family miles, all running the same tightly policed SCR hardware.
Transporter T6.1
The trade favourite, and our single most requested VW job. We cover it in detail on our dedicated Transporter AdBlue page.
Crafter
Big vans work hard and their dosing systems suffer for it. Crafter adblue problems on delivery and site vehicles are a daily call for us.
Caddy
The small van with the same big van fault list. Couriers and sole traders bring us Caddys with warnings that outlast every garage visit.
Tiguan
Short trips and cold starts are hard on the Tiguan’s SCR system, so the family SUV throws faults the motorway car never sees.
Passat
High mileage Passat TDIs wear out NOx sensors on schedule, and owners tire of paying for the same part twice.
Touareg 2.0 & 3.0 TDI
Both the four cylinder and the V6 respond well to our software, and Touareg parts prices make the maths very easy.
Running a different TDI? Pop the registration into our quote form and we will confirm coverage for your exact ECU.
On Your Diagnostic Report?
VW AdBlue Fault Codes We See Most
Five codes account for the bulk of the Volkswagen work we do. Our reprogramming removes the source of each one rather than hiding it.
SCR catalyst efficiency below threshold, the code that follows months of niggling warnings
NOx sensor range or performance, a drifting sensor the ECU no longer trusts
Reductant system performance, the dosing side is not achieving what the ECU demands
Reductant level sensor fault, why the warning survives a brimmed tank
Reductant tank heater circuit, a winter regular on vans parked outside

One Visit Whether the VW Earns or Just Carries the Shopping
Half our Volkswagen customers are trades and fleets. For them a Transporter, Crafter or Caddy off the road is lost income by the day, so we schedule early slots, come to the yard or the job site and typically have the van earning again within ninety minutes. The other half are private owners whose Tiguan or Passat has picked a very inconvenient week to start a countdown.
Either way the process is identical. We scan the vehicle, save an untouched copy of the original file, then load our tested modification for that specific ECU. Nothing mechanical is disturbed, the warnings clear and the countdown never returns. Pricing starts from £250 with the figure agreed before we travel, and every installation carries our lifetime software warranty.
We operate across London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent, with full details on the areas covered page. If you would like the hardware decommissioned alongside the software, ask about complete AdBlue removal, browse all makes we cover, or check the FAQ page for the small print.

VW AdBlue Delete Questions Answered
Usually the same day or the next working day anywhere in London, Surrey, Sussex or Kent. Call us with the registration, we confirm the price up front, and the countdown is gone before the technician leaves your driveway.
VW’s SCR monitoring cross checks several components against each other, so a fresh sensor is often flagged against a tired dosing valve, or the surviving old sensor, within days. Chasing each flagged part in turn gets expensive fast on a Crafter. Our software addresses the whole monitoring chain in one visit, which is why the fault does not reappear.
Both. Tiguan, Passat and Touareg TDIs sit alongside the Transporter, Crafter and Caddy as our most common Volkswagen jobs, and the 2.0 and 3.0 litre engines are all supported. Send the registration through the quote form and we will verify your exact ECU variant before booking anything in.
Then our lifetime software warranty takes over. If a dealer flash or workshop update ever overwrites the modification, we return and reinstall it at no cost, for as long as you own the vehicle. We also keep your original file archived, so the factory state can be restored whenever you ask.
