SCR Delete
What Is an SCR Delete?
Sometimes called a urea delete, an selective Catalytic Reduction, or SCR, is the emissions technology fitted to nearly every modern diesel. It injects AdBlue into the exhaust so a catalyst can convert nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapour. When it behaves, you barely know it is there. When it goes wrong, it takes over the ownership experience with repeat warnings, reduced power and, on many vehicles, a countdown that will eventually prevent the engine from starting.
An SCR delete is the permanent way out of that cycle. We reprogram the engine ECU so the vehicle stops depending on the SCR system entirely. Nothing is unbolted, cut or capped. The change happens purely in code, which is why the dashboard stays clean and the engine keeps running exactly as it should.
- Permanently ends SCR faults, warnings and start prevention countdowns
- Software only, with no hardware removed and no physical trace
- Fixed pricing from £250 with a lifetime software warranty
- Free restore to the original file if you ever need it
- Same day mobile visits across London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent
The Problem
Why SCR Systems Fail, and Keep Failing
By the time most owners and fleet operators contact us, they have already paid for at least one repair. The pattern is familiar because the system has several weak points, and they rarely fail alone.
Crystallised AdBlue
AdBlue is a urea solution, and urea crystallises wherever it sits, dries or seeps. Deposits slowly choke the injector, the delivery line and the mixer in the exhaust, so dosing drifts out of tolerance and the ECU logs a fault even though every individual part still technically works.
Sensor and Dosing Faults
The system lives on feedback. NOx sensors either side of the catalyst tell the ECU whether treatment is working, and they are notoriously short lived. A lazy sensor, a tired dosing module or a failing tank pump all produce the same result: an SCR system fault on the dash and a vehicle drifting towards limp mode. If a sensor is the confirmed culprit, our NOx sensor delete covers that option on its own.
The Repeat Bill Problem
Because the components share plumbing, wiring and calibration, replacing one often exposes the next. Plenty of our customers arrive having spent well over a thousand pounds at a dealership, only for the same warning to return within months. At some point the sums stop making sense, which is usually when an SCR delete enters the conversation.
How It Works
SCR Off, Handled Entirely in Software
You will see this service described in several ways, including SCR off and SCR system bypass. Whatever the label, the method is identical. We read the original file from your engine ECU, keep a secure copy, then write a modified version in which the SCR strategy is switched off. From that moment the vehicle no longer doses AdBlue, no longer watches the tank level and no longer counts down towards a refusal to start.
Because nothing physical changes, there is nothing to rattle, corrode or leak afterwards, and the work is invisible under the bonnet. The result is also permanent. It survives battery disconnection, servicing and years of daily driving without ever needing attention again.
If you are still weighing up your options, our AdBlue delete and AdBlue removal pages cover closely related software solutions, and we will happily explain which one suits your vehicle when you get in touch.
Your Visit
What to Expect on the Day
Everything happens at your home, workplace or yard, and most visits take 60 to 90 minutes from arrival to handover.
Diagnostics First
We begin with a full scan to confirm the SCR system genuinely is the source of the trouble. If we find something simpler and cheaper, perhaps a fault our AdBlue repair service can put right for less, we tell you before any work starts.
The Software Work
We back up your original ECU file, apply the delete and verify every change before the vehicle is restarted. Your original file is stored safely for as long as you own the vehicle.
Testing and Handover
Fault codes are cleared, the engine is run and rescanned, and you see a clean dashboard for yourself before we leave.
Pricing & Coverage
From £250 with a Lifetime Software Warranty
Prices start from £250 and we confirm an exact figure from your registration before anything is booked, so there are no surprises when we arrive. Every SCR delete carries a lifetime software warranty. In the unlikely event a future issue relates to our work, we come back and put it right at no cost, and if you ever want the vehicle returned to standard we restore the original file free of charge.
We run a same day mobile service where the diary allows, covering London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent seven days a week. Fleet operators are welcome, and we can schedule several vehicles in a single visit. You can see the full list of towns we serve on our areas covered page.
One honest note before you book: an SCR delete takes emissions equipment out of operation, so it is intended for vehicles used off road or being prepared for export to regions where AdBlue is difficult to source. If you are unsure where you stand, call us and we will give you straight answers before you spend a penny.
For anything not answered here, our FAQ page covers the wider service, or send your registration through our quote form for a fast written price.

Your SCR Delete Questions Answered
They overlap heavily. AdBlue is the fluid and SCR is the system that uses it, so deleting one effectively retires the other. On some vehicles the software work involved differs slightly, which is why we quote from your registration, but in practice both leave you with a clean dashboard and no further AdBlue costs.
No. The tank, injector, catalyst and sensors all stay exactly where they are. The change is made purely in the engine ECU software, so there is no physical evidence of the work and nothing new to corrode or leak.
Yes. We keep a secure copy of your original ECU file and will restore it free of charge whenever you ask, for example if you sell the vehicle or your circumstances change.
Power and drivability stay as the manufacturer intended. Most owners notice only the absence of warnings and limp mode. You also stop buying AdBlue, a saving that adds up quickly on high mileage vehicles.
Yes, and this is the most common reason customers choose it. Because the delete stops the ECU monitoring the system altogether, there is nothing left to log a fault, so the cycle of repeat repairs ends for good. The work is covered by our lifetime software warranty.
